We’ve made it into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and got our first views of Lake Superior in the aptly named town of Paradise. First stop is staying at the Tahquamenon Falls State Park, a beautiful 50,000 acres stretching over 13 miles. The centerpiece here are waterfalls; the Upper Falls and Lower Falls are known as the “Root Beer Falls” because of the tannins from Cedar, Spruce and Hemlock trees in the swamps (or bogs, fens).
