Petoskey, MI
We landed in Petoskey this afternoon and are staying in a very impressive resort campground, Sun Outdoors RV Resort. Winds have picked up here and the Canadian fire haze was evident, making it a chilly gray day on Little Traverse Bay, but I managed to find a treasured “Petoskey stone” on the shores within minutes; they are six-sided corallites, skeletons of once-living coral polyps.
Can’t wait for more exploration tomorrow!
We toured the town of Petoskey the next day and enjoyed a delicious meal at the historic CityPark Grille, a Hemingway hangout back in the day. The place reminded us of one of our favorite romantic steakhouses in Columbus Georgia (MaBella’s Restaurant).
While in town, we made a full day trip over to Mackinaw City and Macinac Island, but that’ll be it’s own post.
