A Heading
While camped in Petoskey, we did a day trip over to Mackinaw City and then a ferry ride over to Mackinac Island. Chilly and cloudy, yet the sun did manage to pop out in the late afternoon, just in time to enjoy the sunset ferry ride back over to the mainland.
Highlights:
A stroll down Main Street, Murdock Fudge (cherry chocolate yum! 🍒), hiked up to Arch Rock via the botanical trail, walked down to admire the gorgeous homes and B&Bs along Huron Street, fueled up with sugar once more with a flight of Moomers Ice Cream 🍨, back on the last 9 PM ferry. Dinner at camp by 10:30 pm – I love these long days.
We will definitely be back to Mackinac Island in the future! 🚲🚲💐🌷🌸

No Cars allowed on the island

Only horse drawn carriages and bicycles are the methods of transportation. Lots of beautiful Bed and Breakfasts are here; guests must load up along with their luggage on one of the ferries. Once on the island, luggage gets placed on horse drawn “taxis”, along with other supplies from the mainland to provision restaurants and lodges.
