A change in itinerary, yes, already on Day 1. Jokes on us for April Fools Day! Not unexpected though, as we’ve anticipated a detour to Camping World in Anniston Alabama for a few weeks just not knowing it’d be our first stop. Why? We’ll, many don’t know that we hit a snag (it was more accurately a fence) during our January visit to the Tampa RV Supershow. Poor traffic directors inside the Fairgrounds sent us down the wrong way for big rigs and things got too tight. Whoops, Clark got his first (and hopefully only!) road rash alongside the back fender. Insurance sent us to the Body Shop where it got repaired. Unfortunately, the new paint started to bubble so we had to arrange for a return trip for resolution. Which happened to be scheduled on our Maiden Day. So tonight (and for the next 7 or so more days), we will be camping out in a hotel. A blessing in disguise really, since it’s going to allow us to decompress, gather our breath, and transition into this adventure a bit slower.
This will delay our planned itinerary by a week, but isn’t too off course and reminds us that it’s all about the journey and not necessarily the destination. We’ll certainly make the most of this time and sightsee around this beautiful region of northeast Alabama. Plus, a visit to the CAT scales revealed not surprisingly that we’re about 1500 pounds overweight!!! Soon to shed will be our two very heavy desktop PCs and equipment that we simply ran out of time to get everything downloaded off of them onto our new lighter and powerful laptop. Smarter weight distribution is in order by rearranging what gets stored where, etc. Everyday is a learning experience and keeping the right attitude is the new norm challenge and mindset. Welcome to our wild and crazy life!
PS. I haven’t yet figured out the best way to post pics/vids to this blog (it’s much easier to slap ‘em on Facebook). Bear with me… I think for now I’ll create daily or weekly Google photo albums and post the link to navigate to them. Any suggestions/tips are welcome!
