Cherish Each Moment – but record it too!

We left Kentucky today, traveled a bit through Indiana, to land in Illinois at another well maintained cute western-town themed campground (I-64 KOA).

Our campsite had a tranquil view of a flowering field, being plowed just yards away from us. We busted out the drone and flew it overhead later that evening, only to realize that we had not pressed the recording button, doh! Still very much drone pilot rookies.

Pics to the right are placeholders for now (although the first one looks very similar to the real thing!)

May 1st – One month RV-Full-Time-Lifestyle Anniversary!  WOW.  It hasn’t sunk in yet.

Pics are posted!  https://photos.app.goo.gl/Qr3mzx4cKEu5NVb16

Today we arrived in Cave City, KY for 3 nights. Mammoth Cave National Park is the force behind the magnet. So so much to do here in the Park, but in particular is the actual underground cave system. Beyond their wonder, there’s a special fondness Jim and I have for caves. We chose to get married underground in Florida Caverns State Park located in Marianna FL It was a very intimate ceremony with just family; Bride and Groom, Cindy’s parents (with GrandJim officiating), our Children, and Billy the Tour Guide.  I knew our sense of adventure for exploring the wonders of the world started back on that wedding day.  And we continue on to this day! For tomorrow we tour the spectacular Mammoth Cave.

PEACE, LOVE, ADVENTURE, and CAVES!

Harvest Host stop

Harvest Hosts membership is well worth experiencing. The venues are typically independently owned businesses that allow RV-ers to stay overnight in their parking lots for FREE (in exchange for patronizing their biz).

One particular Harvest Host stay we did last year was very memorable. It was in Homosassa Springs Florida at a River Boat Cruise and Airboat ride place. We had a parking place immediately beside the water, and had the dock all to ourselves all night long.

Tonight’s Harvest Host site wasn’t as near exciting, but just as memorable. One does not find an abundance of Campgrounds around London, KY (a pit stop to get from Asheville NC to Cave City KY) to choose from, but HH was there to the rescue.  “Corinth Baptist Church, across the street for overflow parking” was perfect. Easy to find off the Interstate, easy to park, and easy to welcome an opportunity to unwind. It truly was a pastoral picture for the <18 hours we were there; black birds (yet to be identified) were flocking all over the pasture and beautifully singing, two cats confidently patrolling their barn and surroundings, and a fantastic light show with surround sound to wake us up (a strong thunderstorm, LOL) just before dawn. By the time we were ready to leave, the skies had cleared and roads were dry.  We are in God’s Country. AMEN.

Biltmore House, Biltmore Gardens, Wine Tastings, the Monet Experience.  A very PACKED day at the 8,00 acre Estate created by George Vanderbilt back in 1895.  Stunning place.  The Conservatory was my favorite place as evidenced by the majority of my pics taken that day were of the blooms.

Don’t you just hate it when you’re left wanting more?  My original itinerary, meticulously planned out during the final months of prepping for
Retirement and selling the house was/is CRAZY!!!  The ambitiousness of covering so much ground in short bursts is in reality becoming a bit too overwhelming. We got our first taste of that feeling on Stop 3 in South Carolina. 3-4 days turned into 17. It was great to truly relax and soak in the beach vibes. So far, all of our stops feel way too short. There is just so much to see in one locale (much less the US!). Stay a bit longer vs. move on? It’s a real struggle.

So Stop #4 was a just a one-night pitstop. Stayed in a very pleasant campground in Newberry South Carolina. Gnomes and more kept us smiling at every turn. It was hard to leave there – pics and more coming soon, promise!  https://photos.app.goo.gl/kNj3dLj9AmEgXmYj7
